What is World Space Week?
World Space Week (WSW) is an annual holiday observed in over 90 countries between 4-10 October. It celebrates humanity’s role in space exploration, science, and technology, as well as their impact on the human world. Additionally, WSW aims to educate people on the benefits of space and the use to use space for sustainable economic development.
WSW is the biggest Space event of the year. It celebrates the achievements of space exploration and the benefits of space technology. Additionally, WSW aims to educate people about the importance of space and the need for sustainable economic development.
WSW is a great opportunity to learn about space and its impact on our world. There are many events and activities that take place during WSW, including lectures, exhibits, and workshops. Additionally, WSW is a great time to get involved in space exploration and learn more about the benefits of space technology.
WSW theme
First, the 2022 edition begins by highlighting Sputnik 1 on 4th October 1957. Next, the event ends on the 10th to honour the signing of The Outer Space Treaty signed on 10th October 1967.
In addition, the theme for WSW 2022 is “Space and Sustainability”. This theme focuses on achieving sustainability in and from space. This theme is inspired by how sustainability in space relates to how humans use space and the orbital areas around Earth. Furthermore, space exploration and remote Earth observation can help drive change for Earth. This includes climate change, supporting agriculture, and identifying pollution in air, land and sea.
